State Governors Meet Over Security Challenges, Others

State governors have met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

They met on the platform of the Nigeria Governors Forum.

The meeting was presided over by the forum’s chairman and governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.

The state governors were scheduled to deliberate on the security challenges facing the country among other national issues.

They were also expected to discuss the Executive 10 which has to do with financial autonomy for state legislature and judiciary.

The governors are also expected to intervene in the ongoing strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria.

The union had on April 6 embarked on a nationwide strike to protest the non-implementation of the financial autonomy of the nation’s judiciary.

The union directed all its members across the federation to shut down all courts after the expiration of the 21-day ultimatum earlier given over the failure of the government to implement the financial autonomy of the judiciary.
