Reps May Invite Malami, Ahmed, Emefiele Over NDIC, Others’ Accounts

The Committee on Public Accounts at the House of Representatives is to invite the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, over the failure by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation to render its audited accounts.

While the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation confirmed that the NDIC has submitted audited accounts for 2014 to 2016, it said the corporation had yet to tender 2017and 2018 accounts to the office.

This is contained in the report by the committee on the audit queries issued by the OAUGF against ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government between 2014 and 2018, which has been laid before the House.

The report said the MD of NDIC argued that the corporation tendered the drafted copies of the accounts to the auditor-general’s office on 29th October, 2018, which was acknowledged.

The report also quoted the OAUGF as saying that Nigeria Copyright Commission rendered its audited accounts last in 2012, while 2013 to 2018 are still outstanding. The committee is to consequently invite the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

The committee also recommended that Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to explain the failure by the Nigeria Security Printing And Minting Plc to render its accounts as and when due.
