PDP In Turmoil As NEC Members Resign, Blame Secondus

A fresh crisis of confidence has hit the Peoples’ Democratic Party as seven members of its National Executive Committee resigned from their offices.

The seven officers who resigned were Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi; Deputy Women Leader, Umoru Hadizat amongst others.

In their separate resignation letters, the party officials cited “bad treatment” by the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus as the reason for their action.

Chairman of the PDP Deputy National Officers Forum, Diran Odeyemi, who spoke from London says he aligned himself with the decision of his colleagues “to resign.”

Confirming the development, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, says “The NWC of our great party at its meeting today received the notice of the resignation from deputies who are elected members of the National Executive Committee.

The meeting of the NWC and the deputies immediately took place to dialogue on the issues that were raised. The party will look into the grievances raised by members of NEC as well as members of the National Working Committee.”

National Youth Leader of the party, Ude-Okoye, shortly after the NWC meeting blamed Secondus for the crisis.

The PDP Governors’ Forum while expressing sadness over what they described as the rumblings within the party following the resignation of some leaders.

The governors promised to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the affairs of the Party and forge a way forward.
