Makinwa Slams Rohr For Fielding Musa Against Lesotho

Former Super Eagles striker Ayo Makinwa has slammed coach Gernot Rohr for fielding captain Ahmed Musa for the deadrubber clash against Lesotho last month.

Rohr included Musa, who has been without a club for six months, in his squad for his team’s final two games of the 2021 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

The Franco-German coach explained that Musa was given an honorary place in the squad and was not expected to play.

But despite being an unused substitute in the Eagles 1-0 win over Benin Republic, the former Al Nassar and Leicester City forward was introduced for Kelechi Iheanacho four minutes from regulation time in their final game against the Crocodiles.

Makinwa stated in clear terms that featuring Musa was a slap on Nigerian football.

That move was disrespectful to Nigerians and those who were selected to be on the substitute bench for that game.
