Kano To Electrify 100 Communities With Solar Power

The Kano State Government, on Tuesday, launched a comprehensive rural electrification scheme, targeted at over 100 rural communities across the state.

The scheme, established by Shenzhen Lemi Technology Development and Lemi Renewable Electricity Limited, seeks to provide solar home systems to small rural communities.

On completion, the scheme is expected to provide an individual, with solar power to be paid on installment.

While launching the scheme in Kano, the Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Musa IliyasuKwankwaso, said the project would also provide job opportunities for the teeming youths across the state and boost the socio-economic status of rural dwellers.

In his remarks, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, AlhajiMurtalaGaro, represented by the Special Adviser on Local Governments, AlhajiLaminuSani, commended the state government for the good gesture to the people.

The Country Manager of Shenzhen Lemi Technology Limited, Monica Liang, who signed the Memorandum of Understanding, said the company would provide durable and quality equipment for the project.
